Swingle Participates in the Professional Landcare Network’s 39th Annual Student Career Days

Posted on: March 18th, 2015

Swingle recently attended and participated in the 39th Annual Student Career Days event on March 12-15, 2015 at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina. Swingle has a longstanding history with this event – having actively participated for over two decades.

The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) Annual Career Days is a three-day competitive event for students enrolled in horticulture programs from all different colleges and universities around the country. Students are given the opportunity to compete in numerous events, which utilize the skills necessary for a successful career in the green industry. The event doubles as a career fair, where students have the opportunity to meet future employers in the green industry to learn about job openings and internships.

This year Swingle was a participant in scholarship donations, the career fair, student competitions, and sponsored several events throughout the year leading up to the event. This year Ariel Piper, a student from Colorado State University, was awarded with the Swingle -Tolkacz Family Scholarship which is part of PLANET’s Academic Excellence Foundation scholarship. Ariel placed 110th overall out of 757 student participants and CSU placed 4th overall out of 65 participating schools. Swingle values this event for its unique approach in bringing students and organizations together – providing an opportunity to connect, recruit and demonstrate the skills necessary for success in the green industry.
