Plan Your Summer Mountain Getaway

Posted on: May 5th, 2014

We are fortunate that we live in such a beautiful where we get a little of everything! Hear the water running down the river, smell the fresh wildflowers, and take in a fresh breathe of mountain air. With the mountains at your back door, now is the time to start planning your mountain getaway!

Telluride, Colorado

Beyond the ski lifts, imagine the ultimate summer outdoor playground nestled in a picture perfect glacial canyon at the San Juan Mountains. Hiking, mountain biking, river rafting, fishing, off-road adventures, and music festivals are just a few of the activities Telluride offers but the fun doesn’t stop there.

Rocky Mountain National Park

Hop in the car and take the kids on a unique road trip right in your own backyard. Rocky Mountain National Park sits between Estes Park and Grand Lake, both towns are worthy of spending your time, and the drive provides plenty of dramatic views along the way. You are guaranteed to see breathtaking views, and you might even find yourself come across some wildlife! Drivers can see all the way to Wyoming to the north, to Colorado’s eastern plains to the Colorado River to the west.

Summit County-

Summit County may be your favorite destination during the winter months to hit the slopes, but it offers just as much in the summertime for the whole family. Spend a day in the Victorian town of Breckenridge, go mountain biking at Arapahoe Basin or hit Lake Dillon for boating and fishing.

Glenwood Springs-

As the saying goes “soak it all in,” Glenwood Springs is a complete Colorado adventure. Surrounded by the famous Rocky Mountains, Glenwood Springs offers an affordable and family friendly atmosphere. Explore vapor caves, rivers, canyons or the forever-famous Hanging Lake. Cap the day off by taking a dip in the hot springs mineral pools. So much to see, so much to do; a place to make memories!

Great Sand Dunes National Park-

Head due south to the San Luis valley and you’ll find yourself in the state’s best sandbox ever. Give your legs a workout climbing to the top of the dunes then sled down the sand at top speed. Who says you have to book a ticket to the Sahara when you’ve got this just a few hours from Denver!

Steamboat Springs-

Welcome to Ski Town USA, as it’s most referred to in the winter but the fun in Steamboat never stops. Steamboat knows how to do summer activities right! Located in the upper valley of the Yampa River, there is an endless opportunity of water sport activities including fishing, rafting, tubing, & kayaking. If you looking for a more low key vacation enjoy a round of golf at one of four local golf courses or relax with a spa treatment. Steamboat has endless happenings to make your summer getaway memorable!

So many choices it will be hard to choose where to go, maybe we should just visit them all!
